(Jenny) Evil one

His plans were foiled because an invitation was accepted.

(Hopefully this one won't be abandoned)

Invitation to a: Social gathering? Party? Wedding? Business meeting? Secret meeting? Secret society? Aggressive lynching? Sporting event? Otherwise join a club of some sort?

Was he the one who accepted the invitation? His romantic partner? A family member? Friend? Co-worker? An invitation, as in a thing a person would send to another person to request their presence at something? (As opposed to, like, extending your arms in invitation of a hug?)

Were his plans criminal? Unethical? Would they have resulted in harm coming to someone? If so, to the person who ended up accepting the invitation?

The crime: Assault? Manslaughter? DUI? Suicide?

Would both he and the other person have come to harm? Would he have benefitted from the harm of the other person? Was this an act of revenge? Gaining status? Financial benefit? Had the other person wronged him in the past? Is it only one other person who would be harmed?

Is the party a holiday gathering? Office party? School party? Is it something that people normally do for fun? Board game night? Online gaming party? Zoom gathering? Bridal shower? Baby shower? Bachelor/ette party? Wake? Funeral? Gender reveal (shudder)?

Is he a leader of any kind? Political figure? Royalty? Military person? If so, a commander of any kind?

Did his acceptance of an invitation foil his own plans? Did the other person accepting the invitation foil his plans? Are any invitations other than those two relevant?

WAG: Was he planning to bomb a public event and kill an opponent, but then realized that he would be there too?

I thought I'd already posted these questions. I hate it when I try to multitask.

When he accepted the invitation, was he aware that doing so would foil his own plans? Should he have been, if he wasn't? Did he accept the invitation with the intention of also killing himself?

Was the other person an aide of his? Or someone who doesn't share the same job, but they kind of go together? (Like president and vice president, or Prime Minister and an important cabinet minister?) Was the other person also in politics? Was the other person a HAM?

Would the genocide have occurred in a single event? A series of definable events? Over a period of years? Would it be caused by: bombing? Gunfire? Starvation? Forced relocation? Gas chambers? Concentration camps/labour camps? Would it be caused by a variety of political practices and ideologies coming together? (Such as with Indigenous people in North America?) Was it directed at a certain group of people? Relevant?

Does this occur in modern times?

Did his plans include to kill the other person?
Was the other person the leader of the group or nation at the target of his plans?
Were they both invited by another political leader? Was it sort of an official gathering, banquet or so?

Did this happen in real life? In a piece of fiction? In your own imagination? Is the method for performing the genocide relevant? Did other people than this person also want this genocide? Relevant why the person wanted to perform a genocide?

Does it matter who sent the invitation? If yes, was it another leader? Of a different country? nation? kingdom? tribe? A leader of an organization?

Would there have been a genocide if he hadn’t accepted by invitation but his superior had? If he had accepted but his superior hadn’t?

Did he accept the invitation because his superior had as well? Did the superior accept the invitation because “he” did? Did “he” accept on behalf of both of them? (Can we give them names? Maybe Aiden for “he” and Saul for his superior?)

Was Aiden double-crossing Saul?

Was the banquet presented as a political conference? A gathering at which work would get. done? Some sort of negotiations would take place?

Did Aiden accept the invitation for PR reasons? Yo bolster his image? Or Saul’s? To give himself an alibi for the genocide? To make the genocide easier?

Let's get this one going again.

So this is a story from the Tanakh that isn't in the Old Testament? Do we need to be familiar with the text to solve?

Does Saul die during this story? Is the person I've named Saul actually Saul from the Tanakh?

Reminder, please: was it Aiden who was going to commit the genocide? Was Aiden going to kill the people who ended up sending the invitation? Is there a third group of people involved?

Was Saul aware of the genocidal intent? Was his aim in accepting the invitation to prevent the genocide? The invitation was sent with the hope of preventing the genocide, correct? Did they set up a reason to meet or whatever as a ruse, when the real intent was to avoid genocide? Had an attack been planned for a specific time, and they were trying to get Saul there at that time, thereby preventing the genocide? Was this a way of preventing it diplomatically? Did they know exactly who was plotting the genocide?

Was the invitation sent by one specific person? By a group of people? Is the invitation

So this is a story from the Tanakh that isn't in the Old Testament? It's in both. Do we need to be familiar with the text to solve? Not really, as long as you ask the right questions.

Does Saul die during this story? No Is the person I've named Saul actually Saul from the Tanakh? No

Reminder, please: was it Aiden who was going to commit the genocide? Yes Was Aiden going to kill the people who ended up sending the invitation? No, FA Is there a third group of people involved? No

Was Saul aware of the genocidal intent? Yes Was his aim in accepting the invitation to prevent the genocide? No. The invitation was sent with the hope of preventing the genocide, correct? Yes Did they set up a reason to meet or whatever as a ruse, when the real intent was to avoid genocide? Yesish Had an attack been planned for a specific time, and they were trying to get Saul there at that time, thereby preventing the genocide? No, but it would have been a good alternative plan. Was this a way of preventing it diplomatically? No Did they know exactly who was plotting the genocide? Yes

Why have I let this puzzle slide? I was enjoying it. Let's try to get it going again.

Did Aiden need Saul to be in a certain place for the genocide to happen? Did Saul play a role in carrying out the genocide? Was Saul supposed to give an order that would start the genocide? Was Aiden? Would either of them actually do the killing themselves?

Were Saul and/or Aiden injured/killed at the banquet?

Was the invitation sent by: a religious leader? A city leader? A pharaoh? A prophet? The leader of a family? An academic leader? An authority on some topic? Moses?Noah?

God wanted to test Abraham and thus, he wanted him to sacrifice his son, Isaac. So, God invited Abraham and Isaac to come to a place, where he ordered Abraham to kill his son. Both showed up, but when Abraham started, God thwarted his own plan because he saw that Abraham was obedient to him, so he didn't have to kill Isaac in the end.

Or is it this one:

The pharaoh wanted to get rid of the Israelis. God invited both the pharaoh and Moses because he wanted Moses to convince the pharaoh to let the Israelis go. The pharaoh saw how mighty God was, and finally let them go
