You say you don't actually know what the ingredient is--so I'm gathering that the person trying to avoid it isn't you, correct? If so, is there a third person (or more people) involved?

Is it you who wants the other person to eat the new ingredient/to avoid the old ingredient? while the other person would not care?
Would you just for yourself stay with the old brand, provided no one would steal your cookies at work?
Do you actually know who the other person is? or is it just a suspicion?
