Kyle murders Vic. Then he burns Vic's body and clothes to ash, crushes the bones to powder, dissolves whatever didn't burn in sulfuric acid, and scatters everything to the wind. Yet a detective finds traces of Vic anyway. What did Kyle miss?

Relevant the method of murder? If so, gunshot? Strangulation? Blunt force trauma? Beating to death with bare hands? Poisoning? Vehicular? Bomb? Setting on fire?

Did Kyle miss something that was part of Vic's body? A unnatural part of Vic's body? Dental work relevant? Rings? Body art? Other jewelry? Did Kyle miss something: in the planning of the murder? Before the murder happened? During the act of murder itself? In the disposal? Did he miss something in crushing the bones? Burning the body? Burning the clothes? Dissolving things that didn't burn? Scattering everything to the wind? Is any one of the above steps more relevant than the others? Did Kyle miss something unrelated to any of these steps? (Like he forgot to mail something that would've established an alibi for him, or he forgot to wash his hands/clothing after getting them dirty, etc.?)

Spoiler:

Kyle shot Vic in the head, but failed to notice or collect a skull plate that came out of Vic's head in the process and was later found by detectives.
