Why did Shea (H/A/F) lock herself and her kids (H/C/M and H/C/F) in a room for half an hour?

Shea's cat really loves pizza. Every time she and her kids want to enjoy their pizza in peace, they lock themselves in the living room for half an hour to be safe from the four-legged pizza thief.

LOVE it! I have a similar issue with my 2 dogs with all food, but if I shut them out they won't stop barking.
