[Doriana] Minor inconvenience

Postby doriana_ » Tue Nov 08, 2022 10:47 am

For a while, I had to deal with a minor inconvenience. I don't have to any longer, and I probably won't have to for the foreseeable future. What's the inconvenience?

Update: OAATP restrictions lifted!
True story.

Was the inconvenience caused by: you? Other humans? Animal(s)? Natural phenomena? Nobody? Nothing?

Other circumstances: visiting a doctor? Doing something else medical? Buying something else? At the pharmacy? At another store? Can this inconvenience be experienced all over the world? Did the inconvenience end because of something you did? Someone else did? Because of time passed? Do others who experience this also typically experience it for years? Longer than you? Shorter?

Did the inconvenience relate to some personal information being out of date? like name? or address? Did you have to take extra steps to convince people you where who you claimed to be? to have items delivered to you?

Did you break your hand? Was it plastered? Did this prevent you getting the top off the medicine bottle, so that you had no pain relief? Was the showing of your ID (perhaps in order to buy medicine) relevant because at that point the shop person would realise you needed help to buy medicine or indeed any other items which require ID?

Are two different words for a specific thing relevant? Such as the word for prescription? Did you experience this in Germany? The Netherlands? Could it be the other way around? Are other differences besides language relevant? I've lived in Norway and low live in Sweden, and they order birth dates D-M-Y vs Y-M-D, is something like that relevant?

********SPOILER********

My last name is common in German and Dutch, but the most common Dutch spelling is slightly different. Every time I had to give out my name or my e-mail address while living in the Netherlands, I always had to clarify that it's "Ackermann with ck and two n's". Surely not the biggest inconvenience, but I'm still glad I don't have to do that any longer, having moved back to Germany.

Good one. Reminds me of the Norwegian propensity to misspell my Mother's Swedish maiden name in a plethora of creative ways.
