They sturdily hope the rules will be lifted by then.

Is this anything to do with the Passion Play in Oberammergau? Very much, so here we go ..

The Passion Play of Oberammergau, a theatrical interpretation of the Passion of Christ, is taking place every ten years, next time in 2022. It has a tradition that goes back until 1634. Performances take place from May until October five times a week in a special theatre built only for this purpose. There are no professional actors on the stage, all are local people from Oberammergau, more than 1500 are involved. (every role is assigned to two people to have substitutes) Rehearsals start, by tradition, on Ash Wednesday of the year before, so last Wednesday. At the same day, all involved people are kindly asked by the director to stop getting haircuts and also to no longer shave their beards, to provide a realistic feeling how life was 2000 years ago. (also this has a long tradition)

So, soon they could go to the hairdresser again. But they shouldn't.

Side note, to throw in some German-ness: Police officers who wish to take part in the play need a written permission by their superior, as there are some rules in place regarding hair cut and beard of police officers.
