[Balin] Kat of nine tales

If Kat had bought it in person, she wouldn't have proved the adage. How?

OOATP rules apply

EDIT: OOATP rules no longer apply

Did Kat end up happy after all? angry? disappointed?

Did she send the order back? keep it? use it instead of the intended thing? Did what she got turn out to be an even better choice than what she had actually ordered?
Was the item meant for someone else? maybe a gift?

Is the adage cynical in nature? Something along the lines of "no good deed goes unpunished"?

Did she expect the gift to be delivered elsewhere? But it came to her instead?

Was she intending to be kind to someone? If so, the seller of the thing? Someone she knows personally? Multiple people? Society in general? A non-human animal? Herself?

Did Kat end up happy after all? angry? disappointed? I'd say annoyed

Did she send the order back? She returned it in person keep it? use it instead of the intended thing? Did what she got turn out to be an even better choice than what she had actually ordered? No
Was the item meant for someone else? maybe a gift? No to both

Is the adage "buyer beware"? No

Is the adage cynical in nature? No Something along the lines of "no good deed goes unpunished"? No

Did she expect the gift to be delivered elsewhere? But it came to her instead? No to both

Was she intending to be kind to someone? It depends on how kind one considers a purchase for oneself. I'll say not particularly If so, the seller of the thing? Someone she knows personally? Multiple people? Society in general? A non-human animal? Herself?

Is the item bigger than a golf ball? than a breadbox? than a chair? than a car?
Is it something that one might typically want to try on / try out before buying?
Is the item a piece of clothing? a piece of furniture? an appliance? a household item? something related to entertainment? culture? sports? a spare part for something bigger?

Relevant why she returned it in person instead of sending it back?

Is the adage "A little kindness goes a long way"?

Relevant why she returned it in person instead of sending it back? No - it was just easier to go in person

Would you call the item a device? If so, is it a phone? tablet? laptop? video game console? Is it a book? game? toy? CD? DVD? Blue-ray?

I just noticed we never established if Kate is H/A/F. Is she? Is her gender relevant? her age?

Is the book she ordered fiction? non-fiction? Is it part of a series?
Is the item she received also a book? If so, is it completely unrelated to what she intended to buy? Is it a different book from the same series? A book by the same author? A book that has the same title as the one she intended to order, but that has nothing to do with it otherwise? a wrong edition of the correct book?

Did the book she received have the same title as the one she wanted? or a similar one? did the book title (or the book cover?) mislead her about the content of the book?
Did she specicfically search for books by a particular author?
Was the title printed on the book cover? the name of the author?
Was there a picture on the cover? a photograph? artwork?

Did she search for a particular book title? a particular author? or rather, for a book with a specific content, without having in mind a title or author?
Was the book fiction? non-fiction? poetry?
Did she misread the information on the cover? was there a typo? Did it have an ambiguous meaning?
Was there anything else of relevance on the cover besides title and author?

Could we please get another hint or recap? Certainly.

Kat bought a book online; her purchase of the book indirectly proved the adage "don't judge a book by its cover." Something was wrong with the purchased book's cover which misled her about the content of the book.

Wrong text?
A typo?
Colour-related?
Was the cover in any way damaged physically?

Was it a cover for another book? Yes.

****SPOILER****

My sister ordered a book online. When she received it, she opened it to find that they had put the wrong cover on the book, and the cover was for a different book altogether. She has since joked that she's proven the adage "Don't judge a book by its cover."
