[Doriana] Opposite day!

Postby Doriana » Thu Jun 17, 2021 1:46 pm

My friend Lucas (H/A/M) did it twice in 2020, but hardly told anyone about it. I did it once in 2020 and told a lot of people about it. What is "it" and why did we handle it differently?

I've been wanting to run this puzzle for a while now but couldn't come up with a good way to word it. Still not 100% happy, but let's give it a go!

Anything to do with Covid?

Did you do the same thing in the same way? Could it be considered a task?

Is your differing gender relevant? The fact that Lucas did it twice and you only once? Had you done it twice and he once, would you have told anyone? Would he?

Are communication methods relevant? Number of friends/acquaintances? Is Lucas simply less outgoing than you?

Were you warning people about it? Did you have different attitudes to it?

Are communication methods relevant? Number of friends/acquaintances? Is Lucas simply less outgoing than you? No to all

Did Lucas do it on purpose? Did you? or rather accidentally?
Would it have been possible for Lucas to do it more than twice? for you to do it more than once?
Would it be possible to do the same this year? Would then still Lucas not tell anybody but you would?
Did Lucas have a reason not to tell it? or just see no point in telling it?
Did you and Lucas do it together?
Did other people see Lucas doing it? did you?
Did other people see you doing it? did Lucas?
Is your work relevant? your workplace? Lucas's work? his workplace?
Were you legally required to tell about it? (like: to the tax office)

Relevant how you told them? If so, I person? Many people at once? On social media? Mass media? Did you want to do the thing? Did it cost you money? Earn you money?

So the activity is workplace-related? but not work-related?
Did you do it at your workplace? did Lucas? do you have the same workplace?
Were more people involved in the activity when you did it? when Lucas did it?
Was it a sort of volunteering work? or fundraising?
Is a different work situation of you and Lucas relevant? so you were required to report it, but Lucas was not?

So the activity is workplace-related? but not work-related? Bit of a clarification needed here, sorry for any confusion. The activity itself is neither workplace related nor work related
Did you do it at your workplace? did Lucas? do you have the same workplace? No to all
Were more people involved in the activity when you did it? Yes when Lucas did it? Unknown
Was it a sort of volunteering work? or fundraising? No to both
Is a different work situation of you and Lucas relevant? Yesish so you were required to report it, but Lucas was not? That's part of the reason, yes

Did Lucas to it in a different country each time? Did one of the times happen in the country you live in?

You moved in 2020, didn’t you? Is that relevant?

Is "it" in fact, that you moved? You moved once in 2020, and Lucas twice?

Did you tell a lot of people because you moved to another city? to another workplace? so you had a lot of friends, co-workers to say goodbye?
And Lucas moved twice within the same city and kept his workplace? so he did not have to tell many people?

So you moved internationally and had tell friends/family/etc., as well as government agencies, movers, blah blah blah? And Lucas moved, like, down the hall to another apartment? Or to somewhere close, where not as much stuff needed updating and most people with whom he interacted outside of that wouldn't care or need to know?

So you moved internationally and had tell friends/family/etc., as well as government agencies, movers, blah blah blah? Yes, especially the blah blah part  And Lucas moved, like, down the hall to another apartment? Yes Or to somewhere close, where not as much stuff needed updating and most people with whom he interacted outside of that wouldn't care or need to know? Yes

********SPOILER********

After breaking up with his girlfriend, my friend Lucas moved to a smaller apartment within the same apartment building. Half a year later, he and his new girlfriend moved into a bigger apartment in, you guessed it, the same building. So his postal address never changed and he didn't have to update it anywhere. I moved from Germany to the Netherlands, so I gave my new address to friends and family, but also had to let the tax office, government, insurance companies etc. know about it.

Thanks for playing, everyone!
