She is someone who cannot handle caffeine later in the day, so she usually avoids coffee or only drinks decaf if it's past the morning. And this typically means avoiding coffee shops like Starbucks; while these businesses go through batches of regular coffee quickly, very few people order decaf, which means the same batch sits in the pot all day and tends to taste old and burnt by the afternoon.

On this particular occasion, though, she just needs a warm beverage to get through the day, so she reluctantly goes into a coffee shop, orders decaf, and takes it to go. When she sips the drink, it tastes freshly brewed and delicious. She concludes that they accidentally gave her caffeinated coffee, and sadly has to toss it.
