Did you "think you were" in those countries because you saw/heard a word or phrase that was--or sounded like it was--in their respective languages? because you saw an object (a building, an outfit of clothing, etc.) that is commonly seen in those countries, but not in yours?

Was it one word? a phrase? a sentence?
Did you see it somewhere? did you see something that brought it to your mind?
Did this happen in a public place? at home? in a means of transport? indoors? outdoors?
Did you understand the meaning of the phrase/word? is it close to a Swedish phrase? word-wise similar?

Is it true that there is one word in German that made you think you're in Germany? although you're in Sweden?
But you did not see this word at the moment when that thought came to your mind? neither hear?
Did you remember this word? Did you expect to see or hear it? Was it relevantly not there?
Is it an actual word? one that could be found in a dictionary? Is the word still in use in current German language?
Poetry relevant?

So we've established that one word (as opposed to multiple words or a phrase) were involved? and that it was a German word? although you are in Sweden? and it gave you a thought, so you had to encounter the word somehow (as opposed to the word merely existing somewhere where you had no knowledge of it)?

I can't imagine what one could do with a word other than hear, speak, read, write, or think of it mentally. I guess we technically haven't ruled out you writing it (either with pen/pencil or by typing on a device)--is that what happened?

Is the FA that it is not actually a word? maybe an acronym? a made-up word?
or is the FA that you saw the word? that it came to your mind at that moment?
Did you immediately recognize it as German? Did you immediately understand its meaning?

So we've established that one word (as opposed to multiple words or a phrase) were involved? Yes. and that it was a German word? Yes. although you are in Sweden? Yes. and it gave you a thought, DOYD, same FA so you had to encounter the word somehow (as opposed to the word merely existing somewhere where you had no knowledge of it)? Yes.

I can't imagine what one could do with a word other than hear, speak, read, write, or think of it mentally. This is based on the same FA. Explore. I guess we technically haven't ruled out you writing it (either with pen/pencil or by typing on a device)--is that what happened? No.

Did you see the word? hear it? perceive it in some other way (Braille, maybe)? Was it in clear language? encrypted? hidden somewhere? part of an piece of art?
Did this situation occur indoors? outdoors? at home? in a public building? in a means of transport?
Did the situation occur once? several times? repeatedly?
Was it meant to be a word? a German word? or just a random assembly of letters (like on a license plate) that by chance formed a German word?
Would it help to find out how many letters the word consisted of? 2? 3? 4? 5? 6? more?

Hint: a basic LTPF question has not been asked.

So, I assume you are the human? (just checking... :-) )
Did you perceive the word with the non-living thing as an intermediary (for example, if the word HAD been in Braille, the surface with the dots would have been the "non-living thing")?

So, by "perceiving", but not seeing or hearing, the word, you mean that you perceived the word by some sense other than sight or hearing? or do you mean that you saw/heard something other than the literal word itself (for example, the outline of something that evoked the shape of the letters of the word, while not actually being letters)?

Did you perceive the word with the non-living thing as an intermediary (for example, if the word HAD been in Braille, the surface with the dots would have been the "non-living thing")? I, the non-living thing, perceived the word, but did not pass it on to the human.

Yes. or do you mean that you saw/heard something other than the literal word itself (for example, the outline of something that evoked the shape of the letters of the word, while not actually being letters)? Are you an electronic device? a computer?
Did you receive the German word as part of some set of data?
Did you filter it out?
Geolocation, geofencing or location-based content filtering relevant?
Location-based advertising?

Did you (the iPad) identify your location as Germany? Sweden? somewhere else?
Did you receive information that you would normally receive only when located in Germany?
Did the local settings switch to German?
Did you expect to perceive the relevant word in Swedish rather than in German?
Is the word similar to a Swedish word but different in meaning?

Is the German word something that had been entered? via keybord or pen? retrieved from some web site?
Is it a password? a system command? part of a message to be displayed?
Incorrect or missing translations relevant?
Did you ever see in previous occasions this word in Swedish in the same context? or was there no such situation before?

I'll call this close enough to be solved, or else it would get increasingly technical.
***SPOILER***
During the initial setup phase, iPads without mobile internet or GPS use WiFi to try determining which country they're in. My home internet provider is called Bahnhof, which is German for train station. I don't know why a Swedish company chose that as their company name, but they did. Apple apparently thinks that this internet provider is German, so whenever I take an iPad home and reset it (which is a work task I perform now and then), it puts German rather than Swedish as the top language choice on the first screen.
Thanks for playing!
