[WiZ] Someone should really tell Tom Scott about us

Two women are paid to perform the same task. After the task is complete, both of them are put forward to receive a prestigious award. But the awards are different, despite both of them having the same responsibilities and neither being subordinate to the other. Why?
True story. Caveat earlispoilor. OAATP rules apply.

Do they perform the task together (as a team)? sequentially, one after the other, but the exact same task (just as one particular example to illustrate, one does a calculation, and the other repeats the calculation to check the result)? sequentially but on different, non-overlapping parts of a whole (as an example, one paints half of a room, then the other paints the other half)? completely independently on different instances of the same type of task (possibly even in different companies, different places in the world, etc.)?

Are the awards intentionally different? Accidentally? Maliciously? Unavoidably?

Are the awards related to: athletics? Arts/entertainment? Academics (either as students or as professors)? Science? Medicine? Business? Community?

Did they produce together a piece of art? or appear together in an artistic performance of some kind? with other people?

Is there a regulation that each of these awards is awarded to only a single person?

I have submitted a puzzle to Lateral and mentioned the forum, but given their caution against submitting or running puzzles that have been published elsewhere, not sure they can come here.
Is there a relevant characteristic that differentiates the women (e.g. race)?

I would have thought Tom would be at least mildly interested that this sort of thing has been going on since Internet 1.0, but I imagine his schedule is still quite busy, despite being in semi-retirement. I would have narrowly missed him when he was in Breaker Bay shooting his segment on pest control in Wellington, but it's a fraught business approaching people when abiding by the Breaker Bay dress code...
Is there a relevant characteristic that differentiates the women (e.g. race)? yes, but this isn't the whole picture

Are they nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress? yes!
So, why, given that they were paid for the same task?

we are all GalFisk today...
Did they portray the same character (e.g. at different stages of life)?

we are all GalFisk today... I'm Galficus! No, I'm Galficus! No, I'm Galficus! No, I'm -
Apologies for that. I find it easier to format the user's name, paste it and then change them all individually, but it seems I missed a step today.
Did they portray the same character (e.g. at different stages of life)? Yes
The rest would really amount to a film quiz, so
***** SPOILER *****
Both Kate Winslet and Gloria Stuart played the role of Rose DeWitt Bukater in Titanic - Kate as a youth in 1912 and Gloria as an elderly woman in 1997. Both received Best Actress nominations for their efforts at the 1998 Oscars; Gloria's as a supporting actress due to the relatively minor role of the present-day character
There are two other films where two actors have received nominations for playing the same character - Kate Winslet (again) and Dame Judi Dench playing Iris Murdoch in 2001's Iris, and Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley as Leda Caruso in The Lost Daughter (2022)
Congratulations G̶a̶l̶F̶i̶s̶k̶ Balin on the solution, and thank you all for playing.

Ha ha! If I lived in Roman times, I'd rather be Galfix than Galficus.
