[GalFisk] Moped Driving Song

Postby GalFisk » Fri Nov 08, 2024 3:07 pm

How did a small accident make me an even better moped driver than in my previous moped-driving puzzle?

Is the previous puzzle relevant here? If it is, I'll need to be reminded of it. (Or linked or something.)

Were you involved in the accident? If so, were you driving? Driving a moped? Was the accident your fault?

Is the accident even a traffic accident?

Did the accident relate to dropping something? Knocking something over? Tripping? Falling? Hitting your head? Stubbing your toe? Hitting some other part of your body on something?

Was it a physical accident? A mental one?

Did the accident lead to an improvement regarding the rules of the road? Did it improve your response time? Help with braking? Accelerating? Turning? Anticipating things? Did it improve your driving in certain weather conditions? Light conditions? At a certain time of day? Did it improve your balance? Your spatial awareness? Is reading road signs relevant? Or other road signals, like crosswalk lights?

Was music involved in any way in the accident? No.

Did the accident relate to dropping something? Yes. Knocking something over? Tripping? Falling? Hitting your head? Stubbing your toe? Hitting some other part of your body on something? No to the rest.

Was it a physical accident? Yes. A mental one?

Did the accident lead to an improvement regarding the rules of the road? Did it improve your response time? Help with braking? Accelerating? Turning? Anticipating things? This. Did it improve your driving in certain weather conditions? Light conditions? At a certain time of day? Did it improve your balance? Your spatial awareness? Arguably, DOYD. Is reading road signs relevant? Or other road signals, like crosswalk lights?

Is it simply that you were more cautious in future?

Do you now anticipate something specific, that you didn't before, or is it a more general thing?
Are you now more spatially aware?
Did the something you dropped break? Was it too heavy? Did it bump against something? Did you react to something else and, in so doing, dropped the item?

Do you now anticipate something specific, that you didn't before, or is it a more general thing? Specific.
Are you now more spatially aware? Yes.
Did the something you dropped break? No, but... Was it too heavy? DOYD. Dropping a lighter thing would not have lead to this outcome. Did it bump against something? It fell on something. Did you react to something else and, in so doing, dropped the item? No.

Not knowing how mopeds work (and therefore assuming that acceleration and braking are controlled by your hands), does the improvement involve accelerating? Braking?

Was the thing your dropped something you were carrying with one hand? Two hands? Something other than your hands? Carrying in your teeth? Was it a ball? A writing implement? Your phone? Eyeglasses?

Does it matter what you dropped the thing on?

Did you drop an office item? An item usually found in the home? Would it be called a tool? Is it something used for leisure? For entertainment? Is it a medical thing? Food? Drink? Exercise equipment? Athletic equipment? Kitchenware?

Is the thing that it fell on simply the ground? Did it fall on your foot? On a pet? (Pets are not things, I know.)

Can we can the things Object A (the thing you dropped) and Object B (the thing it was dropped on)?

Did you own both the things? Did you own either of the things?

Were object A and B related to each other? Do you use them in conjunction with each other to achieve some result?

Do you still own both of the things?
Did you drop the thing from table height? Lower? Higher? Relevant? Did it fall at least one story?
Does the improvement involve wearing gloves? Wearing something else? Not wearing something?

Did you get better at anticipating things on the road because: you could see better? You became aware of a road rule/custom that you weren't aware of before? You were more mentally alert? You had a faster reaction time? Your reflexes got better?

Does the improvement have to do with predicting the behaviour of other motorists? Cyclists? Pedestrians? Being able to anticipate accidents? Is it applicable basically at any time or driving? Is it only applicable in certain circumstances?

Is Object A made of wood? Metal? Plastic? Cloth/fibres? Is/was it ever alive? Same questions for B, please.

Is Thing A part of a game? Is Thing B?

Could you [yope-ly] see better because your vision itself actually improved? Because after The Great Dropping you did something that resulted in being able to see better? (Upgrading your contact prescription, getting Enchroma glasses, doing eye exercises, etc?) Because you were more aware of something? Because you noticed a certain colour better? Because you were paying more attention to something? Because something while driving was a visual reminder of the dropping? Because you saw something in the result of The Dropping that, like a Rorschach test, reminded you of a particular situation on the road?

If you didn't drive a moped, but instead drove a car, would you still have become a better driver? What about if you were a cyclist?

The thing you dropped didn't hurt you, but what about the thing you dropped it on? Did it hurt you somehow?

Did dropping Thing A on Thing B mimic something that happens while you're driving the moped? Did A fling B up into the air? Did B act like a trampoline and fling A back into the air? Was Thing B, in fact, a trampoline?

Did The Dropping produce a relevant sound?

Were you able to see something on your moped better? Something on other vehicles?

Did you invent something because of The Dropping? Did you take action to ensure you wouldn't have another dropping accident in the future?

Is either of the objects: a book? A technological device? A writing implement? A garbage bin/basket? Something you use in the shower? A hygiene product? A scale? A bottle? A puzzle game thing? A remote? A controller? A toy? A utensil, if not a tool? Is Object A something you have to pick up to use? Is it something that gets used up as you use it?

Is Object B something that is usually on the floor? Was it on the floor when you dropped A on it? Were you at home when you dropped the thing?

Just in case: the accident was the dropping, right? Did you mean to drop Object A? But not on B? Did you mean to drop A on B, but expected a different outcome?

Handling stuff with one hand relevant? especially while driving the moped? typical reaction of people when they lose grip of something?
Did you drop the item because you lost grip? because it was to heavy to carry it in one hand? because the item broke in your hand? did you carry more than one item? but dropped only one of them?
Is your reaction when you realized the item is dropping relevant? did you try to catch it? with the other hand? was your other hand free?
Did the object B lie immediately on the floor? was it something usually found on the floor (like a carpet, doormat, ..)? Did this happen on a stairway?

Was item B soft? hard? flexible? elastic?
Was it on a table? on a chair? on a sideboard?
Did you put it in the place where it was? was it there to protect something that was underneath?
Was B a sort of tool? or technical device? was it electric? a computer? a phone? was it plugged into a socket?
Did B break? Did A break? if so: immediately from the impact of A on B? or did still something else happen? like: the impact of A made B fall down on the floor and only then B broke?

Did B break? Yes. Did A break? No. if so: immediately from the impact of A on B? Yes. or did still something else happen? like: the impact of A made B fall down on the floor and only then B broke? No, but the puzzle would've worked equally well if it did.

Is B something used for fun? Is it Lego? (Arguable whether that would normally be found on the floor or not.) Is it something that's yours? Your kid's? Partner's? Pet's? Is it battery-operated? Does it need to be plugged in or charged to work? Is it a Rubik's cube? A pair of glasses? A box of contacts?

Would you call B a utensil? Something you use with a tool? Something that is used in home repair? Is it an adhesive of some sort? A fastener? Is it something you use to assist you with a task? Do you typically use it indoors? Outdoors? Is it bigger than your fist? Is it normally flat? Spherical? Conical? Square? A box? Rectangular? Triangular? Pyramidal? Is it a tube of something? A container of something?

As for predicting the behaviour of drivers...got better at it in general? Only in specific conditions? Specific weather conditions? When there is an obstacle on the road? When turning? Changing lanes? Parking? Pulling out of a parking spot? Coming to a stop? Starting to go? Does it have to do with other drivers not paying attention? Speeding? Doing something else illegal?

Since you used the glasses mainly outside, were they sunglasses? Protective glasses?

Did you end up replacing the glasses? Did you have to get your vision tested to do so? Did this result in a change in your prescription? Or perhaps the broken glasses weren't prescription at all, and now you upgraded? Did you get transition lenses? Enchroma glasses? Glasses that fit your face better?

When you say you got better in anticipating other drivers' behavior: is this about car drivers? motorbike/moped drivers? people with sunglasses? people without sunglasses?

Was there anything unusual about the sunglasses?

Did you change your driving habits? Your driving routine? Did you drive at different times? In different levels on sunshine than before? Did you drive slower? Did you wear something in place of the sunglasses? Did you do something else to block out the sun?

Does this have to do with lights on the back of a moped? On the front? Do mopeds have turn signals? Brake lights? Are either of those relevant? Their headlights?

Did you get better when dealing with oncoming traffic? Traffic going the same direction as you? Traffic crossing your path?

Was there anything unusual about the sunglasses? No.

Did you change your driving habits? Your driving routine? Did you drive at different times? In different levels on sunshine than before? Did you drive slower? Did you wear something in place of the sunglasses? No to all. Did you do something else to block out the sun? Yes, explore.

Does this have to do with lights on the back of a moped? On the front? Do mopeds have turn signals? Brake lights? Are either of those relevant? Their headlights? All irr.

Did you get better when dealing with oncoming traffic? Traffic going the same direction as you? This. Traffic crossing your path?

Did you wear a sunshield on your helmet? or a cap with a sunshield?
Did you use your hand to block the sun? (and thus, drove with one hand?)

Did you wear a sunshield on your helmet? or a cap with a sunshield? No to both รค.
Did you use your hand to block the sun? Yes. (and thus, drove with one hand?) Yes, but that didn't make me a better driver.

Does this happen when the sun is coming from the front? from the right? from the left? from behind?
Traffic in front of you relevant? left to you? right to you? behind you? in the same lane? in a different lane? traffic that is about to change lanes? about to change direction?
Light signals from other cars relevant? turn signal? brake light?

Does this happen when the sun is coming from the front? Initially, yes. from the right? from the left? from behind? But it's useful in all situations.
Traffic in front of you relevant? left to you? right to you? behind you? This. in the same lane? Yes, mostly this. in a different lane? traffic that is about to change lanes? Potentially.about to change direction? No.
Light signals from other cars relevant? Not specifically. turn signal? Potentially. brake light? No.

Did you start signalling with the hand that was blocking the sun? So then vehicles behind you could see your intentions better? Did drivers behind you see that you had only one hand on the steering, so they kept a greater follow distance? Did you put a mirror on your hand so that you could see traffic behind you as you blocked the sun? (That seems ridiculous. Comic accidental blinding of oneself ensues.)

Were you able to see your rearview mirror better? Because your hand was out of the way?

SPOILER:

I'm pretty broad-shouldered, and the rear-view mirrors don't stick out farther than the handlebars, so my arms tend to be in the way of seeing what's right behind me on the road. I used to contort myself in order to see better, until I serendipitously discovered that it works a lot better by just lifting my arm, which I had to do to block the sun due to my broken sunglasses (which I stupidly dropped my helmet on one day).
Thanks for playing!
