Why does it take over 24 hours to listen to a 17-minute YouTube video?

Is it recorded at ultrasonic frequencies and must be slowed down in order to be comprehensible? Is other high speed recording relevant? Playback speed modifications relevant? Does it have multiple audio tracks that must be listene to one by one? Would it work the same if it was just audio and not a video? Compression algorithms relevant? Data transmission speed? Data encoding? Audio encoded inside the video image?

Does the video have a playing time of 17 minutes?
Would it be possible to play it in 17 minutes? but then impossible to listen to it? would "listen" as in the puzzle statement involve to understand what one is listening?
Is there something to listen in the video? does it have sound? does the sound include: speech? music? sounds of nature? sounds of outer space?
Does this video exist on youtube? or is it a hypothetical video that yet noone did do?
Would listening to the video in one go be harmful? thus, breaks are necessary?

Would it work the same if it wasn't on YouTube, but copied to someone's computer? Does it take over 24 hours of continuous listening? 24 hours of combined listening? Is pausing involved? Is the video so crammed full with ads that they take up most of the time? Is it the way it is on purpose? To make a point?
Edit: are other actions required, besides listening? Such as going places? Waiting? Is the video synchronized to something relevant?

Because, like me, you have ADHD and often can't get through a whole video in one go, so you pause halfway through and come back to it later?

Is this a music thing? Is the overall video created with the intent that you can listen to it in 17 minutes? But to fully get the complexity of the composition you need to isolate each track and listen to them one by one?

Are the tracks instruments? Vocals? Singing? Speaking? Non-musical sound?

Illusions relevant? If so, auditory? Optical? In the 24 hours, does the listener need to interact with the player software? If so, by repeating the track? Skipping backwards or forwards? Listening to something else? In these 24 hours, is there constantly something of the audio track being played? Can the 24 hours be split up into several sessions? Should they? Is syncing the track up to something else relevant? Is there singing on the track? Is it a stereo track? Surround sound? Relevant? Is it a choose-your-own-adventure track, and it takes 24 hours to choose all the adventures? Or is there some other combinatorial stuff going on?

Is the FA in the question "In these 24 hours, is there constantly something of the audio track being played?" that there is anything OTHER than the audio track? i.e. is the "video" in fact ONLY audio, such that the audio couldn't properly be called a "track" because there is no "video track" to go along with it? or is the FA that it's a pre-recorded track? when in fact it's a live video?

Going off that last idea, possibly the video is live, and while there are only 17 minutes of actual audio (and the rest is all silence), the channel doesn't announce when in the 24 hour period those 17 minutes of actual speech/music/etc. will be played, so listeners have to listen the whole time to be sure to catch the actual sound?

Is the answer a yes if "it" refers to the video as whole? To the audio within the video? To the device it's being watched on?

When you watch the video, does the audio come out of the device you're watching the video on? Is it synched up to something else? Does the viewer have to play the audio separately? If so, on another tech-y device? On an instrument? By making the sound with their own voice?

In order to get the 24 hours, you have to play separate audio

Is it some sort of scavenger hunt where you need to listen to other Youtube videos--or maybe songs--in order to get clues to follow along with the main video?

Is the video being watched? On a device?

Does it take a specific person 24 hours to do this? Someone with a specific interest/hobby? Job? Any random person?

Are the visuals relevant? Would this be classified as a comedy video? Educational? Music? (Not necessarily a “music video”, but like music theory, practice tips, a performance video, a vid about songwriting or the industry, etc.) Horror? News? For kids? Political? ASMR? Self-help? Is the focus/topic of the video relevant?

Is there a relevant target demographic for this vid?

Are the songs all in the same genre? By the same artist? About the same thing? Do they have something else in common?

Is the video somehow compressed or up-speed? so that you need to watch it at much slower speed in order to understand the speech? do you need to watch it several times in order to understand it?
Is speech the relevant part of the video but actually only a very small part of it? So you will have to go through 24 hours of material in order to get 17 minutes of speech?
Does the FA about the device it's being watched on mean that the video is normally not watched on an usual device, like mobile phone or tablet? Is it displayed on some public screen? Is the video from a live stream and the 17 min upload is just a condensed version of it?

Is the video being watched? For taking 24 hours, NO. Great question. (If you watch the video normally, it's 17 minutes.) On a device?

Does it take a specific person 24 hours to do this? Someone with a specific interest/hobby? Job? Any random person? This

Are the visuals relevant? No Would this be classified as a comedy video? Educational? Music? (Not necessarily a “music video”, but like music theory, practice tips, a performance video, a vid about songwriting or the industry, etc.) Horror? News? For kids? Political? ASMR? Self-help? Comedy and horror, plus another unnamed category
Is the focus/topic of the video relevant? No

Is there a relevant target demographic for this vid? Not relevant to the puzzle

Are the songs all in the same genre? No By the same artist? No About the same thing? No Do they have something else in common? gonna say No

Is the video somehow compressed or up-speed? No so that you need to watch it at much slower speed in order to understand the speech? No do you need to watch it several times in order to understand it? No
Is speech the relevant part of the video but actually only a very small part of it? No So you will have to go through 24 hours of material in order to get 17 minutes of speech? No

Nice idea, but No

Does it take 24 hours to listen to all the songs? 23 hours, 43 minutes?

Are the songs referenced in video? If so, are they listed on screen? Mentioned by someone? Is something referencing them part of the set dec?

Does the plot of the video matter? Does it matter that it's a horror-comedy? Are any tropes of either genre relevant? Gore relevant? Death?

Does a person have to listen to the songs to get the full impact of the video? Were the songs written specifically for the video? I recently saw a play where the cast included playlists that they thought were thematically similar to the production in the program. Anything like that happening here? Maybe the songs are the songs that characters in the video would listen to? Something like that?

Are plot points of the video included in the songs? Are there specific times in the video where you'd pause to listen to a song/songs?

Just to remind me: it is only songs that are the relevant non-video thing, right? Is there another element of the sound or soundscape that you'd be listening to that would take that long?

Does the video consist entirely, or almost entirely, of a series of instructions, like "Now listen to album X", "Now listen to songs Y and Z from album W", etc? Does it ever instruct viewers to take a long break before doing the next step (like "At noon, listen to X. Then at 3 PM, listen to Y")?

It's comedy and horror... so does the video attempt to draw connections between the lyrics of various songs, to imply that there's a spooky connection between them? Is it a murder mystery where the clues are scattered across a series of songs?

Does it take 24 hours to listen to all the songs? A bit over 24 hours, but YES, this is the songs bit. Now all that's needed is the connection between the songs and the video 23 hours, 43 minutes?

Are the songs referenced in video? ...I'm going to say Yes, but be careful

"Are the songs referenced in video? ...I'm going to say Yes, but be careful"

So we've established that the songs are in a playlist--is this playlist by the same Youtuber as the video (the one that is the subject of this puzzle)? Does the video mention the playlist, but not the individual songs? Does the video mention the songs and/or playlist intentionally? or does it coincidentally include the name of the playlist while actually referring to something else?

I noticed that you wrote in the puzzle statement "listen to the video" and not "watch the video", although the video has video content and can be watched.
Does the "listening" mean something different than just watching the video as it is on youtube?

Is the video in the playlist along with the songs? Is it titled something like "Listen to this playlist, it's amazing"--referring to some other playlist mentioned or advertised in the video--but the fact that it's IN the playlist with the songs makes it look like it's referring to THAT one? Possibly in this case "listen to" could be interpreted as either "obey" OR "hear the sound of"--so if you "listen to it" in the 2nd sense it's 17 minutes, but if you "listen to" it in the first sense, then it's just over 24 hours? If not, is it a similar "meta"-type situation?

Does the video consist of short pieces of a lot of songs? and the actual challenge was to recognize as many as possible of them?
Is the video actually a short movie or animated movie with a soundtrack that consists of small parts of a lot of different songs/pieces of music?

"Mentioned": said out loud? Titles displayed somewhere in-screen? Lyrics said out loud? Lyrics displayed somewhere in-screen? Something in-screen referencing each song? (Like if the video was about Prince and in the background there was a little red corvette, a raspberry beret, and a calendar from 1999, for example.) Or maybe the songs are mentioned in sign language? Captioning? Some other service/device that helps people with disabilities consume video content?

Is the FA about "someone"? "In the video"? "say"? It has to do with "saying the song titles"

Are they not said? Are not literal song titles said? Are song titles hidden? Referenced? Obfuscated? Posed as riddles?

Does the FA involve audio? Video? Would this work if it wasn't a youtube video? If it was a VHS video? If it was a live performance? A TV broadcast?

Does the FA involve audio? Yes Video?
Would this work if it wasn't a youtube video? If it was a VHS video? If it was a live performance? A TV broadcast? In theory, these could work, but a YouTube video is more rewatchable

To help with the FA, since this has taken awhile: it wouldn't be accurate to say that the person in the video was saying song titles.

So they're said in audio (as opposed to being shown in text) but not strictly speaking said as song titles? Are they words that happen to be part of song titles? anagrams of song titles? synonyms of song titles? some other kind of puzzle clue to song titles?

Is there one person in the video? Are all words in the audio said by people?

Is there one person in the video? Yes Are all words in the audio said by people? Yes

So they're said in audio Yes (as opposed to being shown in text)
but not strictly speaking said as song titles? Yes
Are they words that happen to be part of song titles? This is close enough, I think anagrams of song titles? synonyms of song titles? some other kind of puzzle clue to song titles?

****SPOILER****

Someone made a Spotify playlist where the titles of the songs form a transcript to Markiplier's first Five Nights at Freddy's gameplay video.

We were all led to believe that the maker of the video intended to reference the playlist, but rather the playlist was referencing the video!
