Why did I start buying a different brand of cookies?

Just so other puzzlers know, my guess was incorrect. I thought it had to do with Trump's tariffs on other countries, and buying non-American goods out of solidarity. Back to questioning...

Is this a health-related choice? Financial? Did you discover that you react negatively to something in the first brand, health-wise? Does the new brand have something you want to include in your diet? Lactose relevant? Gluten?

Is the packaging relevant? Is the new brand easier to carry home (or wherever you're going)? Does it fit better in your bag or purse or whatever?

So the dietary restrictions of the other person are yesishly relevant, yet someone OTHER than this particular other person prefers to avoid this ingredient for ethical reasons? Does the other person actually prefer cookies with this ingredient, so you buy cookies with it just for this other person when you'd otherwise avoid doing so?

You say you don't actually know what the ingredient is--so I'm gathering that the person trying to avoid it isn't you, correct? If so, is there a third person (or more people) involved?

Is it you who wants the other person to eat the new ingredient/to avoid the old ingredient? while the other person would not care?
Would you just for yourself stay with the old brand, provided no one would steal your cookies at work?
Do you actually know who the other person is? or is it just a suspicion?
Is the new ingredient something the other person does not really like (or does not really like the product when the old ingredient is missing)? so you switched the brand in order to discourage him/her from eating your cookies?
And to clarify: Does the old brand contain some relevant ingredient the new brand does not contain? or vice versa: the new brand contains something relevant the old brand does not? or do both brands contain the same type of ingredient, just produced/obtained differently? (organic vs industrial? regional vs imported? vegetarian vs animal origin?)
