I think in the "Piña Colada Song", it's the woman who contacts the guy, in response to a personal ad he puts in the paper. And she isn't upset, she's happy that they have much more in common than they knew. But yes, it's quite similar to what you're describing.

I doubt I'd know this one, as I was only just born halfway through the 80s. I have heard that other song on the radio many times, though.
