Was she thought to have a condition because she failed to notice a symptom in you? E.g. She didn't hear you coughing, so the nurse thought she must be deaf? Or, WAG, there was some discoloration on your body, and since your mom didn't notice it, perhaps she's color-blind?

Just to check, was the nurse correct about the injury-ish she thought you had? Was it a bug bite? A burn? A scratch? An allergy?

Was she at home because she was waiting for someone? Was she waiting for a different call? She might have been at home regardless, but she also had a very good reason for not leaving. It's not any of the ones you mentioned, though.

Did she say one sentence? Yes A few words? "We're under attack"? Not quite Something like that? It was more like “______ and you’re complaining that he has a toothache?” But the relevant part is somewhat similar to that but not that.

I had a horrible toothache on 9/11, and the nurse called my mother to tell her what was going on. The nurse was blissfully unaware of the events of the morning, as the school had elected not to tell staff to avoid worrying students. My mom, however, knew full well what was going on, assumed the nurse knew as well, and said "The world is ending and you're bothering me about a toothache?" The nurse assumed she was crazy until she found out what was going on

No, I was in New York State, about 75 miles north of Manhattan. But yeah, the fear was real there too, and the nurse was way too far away from Ground Zero to be able to look out the window and see the smoke, unlike here probably.
