[Sarisberie] White Van Man

Postby Sarisberie » Sun Jul 03, 2022 10:05 pm

Poppy and Max arrive in a large van and pick up Frank from his house. However, it’s a dead-end street, and Mr Awkward drives in and blocks the entrance. They decide to bump their vehicle up on the kerb to exit the close. They do some damage to the wheel arch, but despite this, everyone is very glad that they did.

Would something bad have happened to them (or to the car) had they stayed just a few minutes longer?
Did a disaster happen in this street? a fire? an explosion? did the street got flooded? would something have fallen on the car?
Did still more danger go out from Mr Awkwards car apart from just blocking the way? Was Mr Awkward a criminal? Any crime involved here?

Would anyone have been physically injured if the bad thing happened? Or in danger of physical injury? Would they have missed something by staying?

Any other people relevant? If so, anyone living on the street? Anyone else living with Frank? Is it in fact relevant that Frank lives there? Or would the situation have been the same if they drove the van into the dead end for another reason?

Is it relevant where they went after escaping the dead end?

Oh, and is everyone human? adult?

Is there something relevant about the van? Like that it is used for medical purposes? We’re they going to a hospital? Is it a van for a film/TV/news crew? Are the professions of any of the involved relevant?

Has the “disaster” already happened when they leave to pick up Frank? When they pick him up? When Awkward blocks them in?

Is “everyone glad that they did” damage to the wheel arch because if they hadn’t Frank would be dead? Is there more to it? Would they be equally glad if Awkward hadn’t pulled up at all and they’d just been able to go as normal?

Is the nature of the damage relevant? Is Mr. Awkward's car damaged? Did they save Frank's life simply by getting him to the hospital quickly? WAG: does Mr. Awkward come out when he hears the noise of the damage, and it turns out that he has skills or equipment that helps in saving Frank's life?

Were Poppy and Max heading straight to the hospital after they passed by Mr Awkward's car? Would they have done so if the car had not been there?
Did they manage to get to the hospital? did the van break on the way?
Is Mr Awkward's car in some way special? Is it a police car?
Do Mr Awkward and Frank know each other?
Did the bump upon the kerb cause something to happen in the van? (apart from breaking the wheel arch)
Did it cause Poppy and Max to change their plans?

Does Awkward have something to do with Frank's medical emergency (if it can be called that)? Is it relevant what emergency Frank has? If yes, cardiac? Has he been shot? Stabbed? Had a stroke? Hemorrhage? Asphyxiation? Electrocution?

Does Mr. Awkward block the entrance on purpose? Is he trying to be helpful? Trying to cause damage? Trying to make Frank's predicament worse? Does he just happen to be one of those mother@#%%ing drivers who just does inexplicably stupid stuff for no reason? (One thing I'm sure most adults have in common is that we all think everyone else is a bad driver. Ha ha.)

Is Awkward's profession relevant? Does it matter what type of vehicle he was driving? Does he remain in the vehicle when the ambulance is trying to pass? Is he also experiencing a medical emergency? Is someone he knows experiencing one? Is he trying to get the attention of the medics?

Are the only relevant professions involved here the medics driving the ambulance?

Is/was there a fire at Frank's place? Is he choking? Did he almost drown? Have an asthma attack? Lung disease relevant? Has he been assaulted? Crushed? Would this emergency fall under the category of: accident? Illness/disease? Act of violence? Self-harm?

Did they hit the curb hard enough to dislodge something that was obstructing Frank's airwaves? Did hitting the curb do something to the medical equipment in the ambulance? Does it cause something to come lose? To fall off? Create a sharp edge that they can use to perform the world's most interesting tracheotomy? Does it do anything relevant to the tire?

Just checking - is Frank HAM? Did Frank attempt suicide?

Did having to go round Awkward's vehicle cause them to go in a relevantly different direction? For example, did they discover a shortcut, when otherwise they would have taken their normal route?

Was something relevant dislodged from Frank? His throat? Lungs? Heart?

Is he choking on blood? Food? A foreign object?

Suicide by poisoning? (Including such things as pill-popping, alcohol poisoning, etc?) Did hitting the curb upset his stomach, causing him to vomit? Is he choking on his own vomit? Did he OD on drugs?

Does the ambulance get tilted as they bump up on the curb? Does this roll Frank into a better position?

**********************$POILER*************************************************************************

Frank tried to commit suicide using weedkiller. He had second thoughts, so he called the ambulance which arrived pdq. Poppy and Max tried in vain to get him to vomit it up. They were about to make a dash for the hospital, knowing that they may be too late to save him, especially when they saw Mr Awkward's car blocking them in. But the big bump from mounting the kerb dislodged the poison and after a hospital stay he recovered fully. Last I heard, Poppy and Frank got married, and they're living the high life down in Acapulco.

Well done to trebor2 for the solve and to Sundowner64, Bardificer, Galfisk, and JenBurdoo1 for taking part.
