Were you going to play with it? Give it as a gift? Play a prank? Were you riding on the ferry?

Was your motivation fun, safety, criminal or financial?

Was anyone else involved?

Was it something that anyone else could have done?

Did the car have a purpose, e.g. a job to do? Was it the only toy there? Did it make people happy? children relevant? was it used as a placebo, or to soothe someone who is feeling anxious or seasick?

Did someone else have the controller? Was the idea to find a particular person? Kind of like holding up a sign with a name on, but more fun?

Did you use the toy car to entertain people waiting for the ferry? to somehow help the people get on the ferry?

Would something similar have worked at a bus stop? in an airport terminal? somewhere non-transportation-related where people queue up and buy tickets before entering somewhere (such as at a theater)?

Did you use it to demonstrate how to get on or off the ferry?

Is its size relevant? Small enough to run around on a tabletop?

Did you bring anything else relevant? Like a toy ferry or dock? Did you make anything else relevant, like out of books available at the site?

Was it then a larger toy car? taller than 1 ft? taller than 2 ft? taller than 3 ft?
Type of car relevant? truck? pickup? sedan? convertible? tractor?
Did the toy car relevantly transport something? someone (a child, maybe)?
As the toy car was neither on the ground nor on the ferry: was it on a table? on a bridge? on a car or truck? did it come down with a parachute?
Did you want to make a pun on a stupid rule or regulation?
As relevant people were yopeishly in their cars: were they about to enter their cars? about to leave their cars? did not have a car at all?
Did you have the help of other people in whatever you did?

Was it then a larger toy car? No. taller than 1 ft? taller than 2 ft? taller than 3 ft? No to all. It could technically run on a tabletop, but it would need more space to do anything interesting.
Type of car relevant? Noish. truck? pickup? sedan? convertible? tractor? No to all.
Did the toy car relevantly transport something? Yes. someone (a child, maybe)? No.

Why can't you answer whether they had or didn't have a car? Is there some ambiguity in the language?
Was this a painting or other representation of a transport terminal, car/s, a day out, vacation etc? Did it exist in any way? Was it expressed as a play, painting, dream?

Why can't you answer whether they had or didn't have a car? Not a yes/no question. Is there some ambiguity in the language? Yope, explore.

Musical or normal play? Did you have to use the remote control to bring the "car" on/off stage and make it drive around etc? Was it a cardboard car, or other representation?

WAG was it a nativity play? Or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?

Is it a music box? Something else shaped like a car? That can still be remote controlled? A radio/boombox? A backpack? Something with a representation of a car on it? A souvenir from a raceway?

Was the ferry part of the plot of the play as well? or was the play for some reason being performed ON a real life ferry boat?

Were the "people in their cars" supposed to be in cars according to the plot of the play? but weren't actually inside of cars, because they rather were actors standing on a stage?

Was the "remote controlled car" a projection or shadow of a car? and the remote control was to pan the lighting and make the "car" move across the stage? or was an actual remote control car converted into something else, by for example wrapping it in something, gluing a cardboard cutout to it, etc., which used the power of the car hidden inside to move? possibly representing the ferry boat itself?

This is close enough for the

***SPOILER***

I was part of a humorous revue show which played three shows every weekend from NYE to last weekend. One of the sketches was about a small local cable ferry. The "ferry" (an actress carrying a painted plywood cutout) and its would-be passengers sang a very solemn song about how it was stranded due to low water levels caused by a hydropower company, while very silly props were used such as a mussel suspended from the rafters on a fishing line, and a dead fish prop mounted on a radio-controlled car which I drove from behind the scenes.
