[Balin] What the new day shall bring

Postby BalinTheDwarf » Mon Feb 06, 2023 12:40 pm

Britt is happy with her job, but every so often, she considers her work completely redundant. Why?

Just to make sure: Is Britt H/A/F?

Would others also consider Britt's work redundant?

Does Britt work in a job that existed 15 years ago? 50 years ago? 100 years ago? 500 years ago? That is likely to exist 50 years from now?
Automation relevant? Artificial intelligence relevant?

Does she sometimes consider all her work redundant? Always consider some of her work redundant? Is the redundant work pointless? Being undone? Is it of no use to anybody? Would she be happier in her job if hone of her work was redundant? If more of it was?

Does she want to make herself redundant? No because that would mean she achieved something? No
would she be happy if her work was not needed any more? Probably not is she dreaming of a world where jobs like hers are not needed any more? No

Is it relevant where in the world Britt is? Would her job have been more/less common in certain countries/eras? Would it be/have been a job primarily worked by women, men, either, both? Does she sometimes consider the work redundant because: there are other/better ways to do it, or less demand for it, or it's made better/cheaper elsewhere? Is it relevant which part of her work is redundant and which not? Is fashion an issue? E.g. since people are better fed now, the smaller sizes are not required?

Is her entire job redundant at these times? Or just part of it? If the latter, can she still do other parts of her job?

Or is it only redundant during specific times? Are these periods foreseeable? Redundant only to a specific customer population? (Like if she sells women' products but cannot when only men are present.)

When her work is redundant, is it because someone else wrote a book? A book based on the same movie? Does she write down what happens in the movie? So you can read it as a book instead of watching it? Do the books have images? If so, from the movie? Do the movie producers pay her to make the books? When her work is redundant, does it still end up in books in stores and libraries?

Is she writing novelizations of movies? (I.e. turning the movie plot into a novel)
Does she feel her job sometimes redundant because nowadays most of the movies are either already based on a novel or remakes of a movie for that already many novelizations exist? so there is no point in re-novelizing it?
